Unusual Vintage Sterling Silver Spear Head Brooch with Tiger's Head Decal

A sterling silver brooch or pin in the form of a spear head with a tiger's head decal. It measures 3.3cm x 1.6cm and is stamped to back BARTON SILVER

This was made by Barton's of Bangalore, India. Barton's was founded in 1861 by an Englishman, Thomas Barton, and still exists to this day.

They were known for being the silversmith's to the defence forces and also for sporting ware, so this may have been a cap badge or presentation gift for taking part in a tournament, perhaps.

In lovely condition, estimated age is c.1900.
